Detectives Investigate Shady Grove Area Sexual Assault

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are investigating the sexual assault of an adult female that occurred this morning in the professional corridor of Shady Grove Road in Rockville.

Today at approximately 6:10 a.m., officers responded to the report of a sexual assault that had just occurred in the area of Shady Grove Road and Key West Avenue.

Detectives have determined that the victim was walking on the sidewalk on Shady Grove Road between Key West Avenue and Blackwell Road when the suspect approached the victim from behind.  The suspect pushed the victim to a grassy area along the roadway and began to sexually assault her.  The victim began to yell for help and a passerby, hearing the victim, ran to her aid and the suspect fled from the area.

The preliminary description of the suspect is a black male with a thin build and wearing dark clothing.
