Damascus Area Fatal Collision Investigated

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in the Damascus area.

On Tuesday, January 22 at approximately 7:50 a.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 28500 block of Ridge Road for the report of a serious collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a white, 1997 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Ridge Road (MD 27) and that a white, 2015 Toyota Avalon was traveling southbound on Ridge Road.   For reasons still under investigation, the Corolla and the Avalon collided in the 28500 block of Ridge Road (north of Kemptown Road).

The 32-year-old male driver of the Corolla succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The Corolla’s front-seat passenger, a 24-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  She remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.

The identities of the driver and passenger of the Corolla will be released once family notifications have been made.

The driver of the Avalon, identified as Khary Hiram Tolliver, age 46, of the 100 block of Tulip Court in Hagerstown, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
