Update: Suspect Arrested for Derwood Bank Robbery

For Immediate Release: Sunday, January 27, 2019

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged Jerail M. Netcliff, age 28, of the 13100 block of Evanston Street in Rockville, for the January 24 armed robbery of the Bank of America located at 17501 Redland Road.

On Thursday, January 24 at approximately 10:18 a.m., 6th District officers responded to the Bank of America for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that that the suspect approached a teller, displayed a handgun, and demanded money.  He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the bank.

During the investigation, detectives determined that after the bank robbery, the suspect had fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.  Investigators obtained surveillance video which showed the suspect leaving the area in a white U-Haul van with distinctive graphics and wording.

Detectives determined that the U-Haul van had been rented in Rockville and that an individual later identified as Netcliff had rented the van approximately one hour before the bank robbery.   Investigators further determined that Netcliff matched the physical description of the bank robbery suspect.

On January 25, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Netcliff charging him with one count of armed robbery and one count of using a firearm during the commission of a felony.  Later that day, investigators arrested Netcliff in Bethesda.  Netcliff was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is currently being held without bond.

Subsequent to Netcliff’s arrest, detectives obtained a Montgomery County Search Warrant for his home.  During the search of his residence, investigators located evidence from the bank robbery to include the clothing that Netcliff wore during the robbery and a replica handgun that investigators believe he used during the robbery.
