Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Rockville Involving 3-Year Old Child

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a personal injury collision that occurred today in Rockville involving a 3-year old child.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 3:51 p.m., in the parking lot of 611 Rockville Pike, a 3-year old male child was crossing the travel portion of the parking lot when he was struck by a 2010 Ford Explorer driven by Pedro Zavala Leal, age  44, of the 6200 block of Fernwood Terrace in Riverdale, Maryland.  Leal remained on the scene of the collision.

The child has been identified as Antonio Martinez Cruz, age 3, of Rockville.  Cruz was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
