Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Clarksburg

The Montgomery County Department of Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred today in Clarksburg.

On Sunday, June 16th at approximately 1:09 pm, officers from the 5th District along with Fire & Rescue personnel, responded to a personal injury collision that had just occurred on Snowden Farm Parkway in the area of Clarksburg Square Road.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a Mazda 3, driven by Ian Matthew McKenna, age 20, of Clarksburg, was driving west on Snowden Farm Parkway. An Audi S6, driven by Mario Orlando Sanchez, age 43, of the 22500 block of Winding Woods Way in Clarksburg, was driving east on Snowden Farm Parkway.

For reasons still under investigation, the Audi crossed the double yellow center line on Snowden Farm Parkway colliding with the Mazda in the area of Clarksburg Square Road.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mazda, McKenna, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Audi, Sanchez, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
