Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Germantown

Update: (7/25/19) - The deceased driver is identified as Elmer Ault, age 86, of Ishler Street in Boalsburg, Pennyslvania.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal vehicular collision that occurred today in Germantown.

Today, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers from the 1st district and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel responded to a vehicular collision that had just occurred at the intersection of River Road and Old River Road in Germantown.



Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2004 Saturn Ion entered the intersection of River Road where a left turn is southbound Old River Road and a right turn is Seneca Road. Upon entering the intersection, the Saturn was struck on the driver’s side by a 2017 Ford F250 which was hauling a landscaping trailer. The facts and circumstances of the collision are still under investigation.



Officers located the adult male driver of the Saturn Ion deceased on the scene.  The identity of the victim will be released after appropriate notifications have been made.







The driver of the Ford F250 has been identified as Edwin Monroy, age 44, of Gaithersburg.  He was treated by Fire/Rescue personnel on the scene and released.
