Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have charged Jeankite Joseph, age 49, of the 13600 block of Cedar Creek Lane in the Fairland area of Silver Spring, with committing sexual abuse of a minor and a third-degree sexual offense.  Joseph is a Pastor of the Church of Messengers of God which is located at his home in Silver Spring.  The victim, a family member and a congregant of his church, was 11 at the time of the offense.

On May 31, 2019, SVID detectives received information regarding this sexual abuse.  Investigation determined that the incident occurred on December 31, 2014.  The victim and her family were at Joseph's home for a prayer service.  After the prayer service concluded, the victim's mother went to work and the victim was left in the care and custody of Joseph and his wife.  During that time, Joseph inappropriately touched the victim and initiated sexual contact with her.

A warrant was issued for Joseph's arrest on June 25 and he was arrested by law enforcement officers in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 28.  Joseph was extradited to Montgomery County on July 12 and was released on bond.

Investigators are asking that anyone who believes that he/she was victimized by Joseph or anyone who believes that his/her child was victimized by Joseph to please call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
