Detectives Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Collision in Wheaton

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred yesterday on August 31, in Silver Spring.

On Saturday, August 31, at approximately 4:46 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd and 4th Districts along with MCFRS personnel, responded to Hawkesbury Lane at Randolph Road for a personal injury collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 1984 Mercedes Benz 380 SL, driven by Sommai Tangchaiburana, age 69, of the 13000 blocks of Princeville Court, was traveling southbound on Hawkesbury Lane approaching Randolph Road when it left the roadway and struck several trees. Sommai Tangchaiburana was pronounced deceased at the scene.
