Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Olney Area

Update: September 9, 2019: The driver of the Honda is identified as Rene Antonio Hernandez Jr., age 32, of Longview Lane in Olney.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a multiple-vehicle fatal collision that occurred last night in the Olney area.

On Friday, September 6, at approximately 8:56 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Georgia Avenue at MD 200 (the Intercounty Connector - ICC) for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a 2014 Infinity Q50S was traveling north on Georgia Avenue.  A 2009 Honda Civic was traveling south on Georgia Avenue and was attempting to make a left turn onto the entrance ramp of eastbound MD 200 (the ICC) when the two cars collided.  The Infinity then struck a 2004 Ford Explorer that was traveling north on Georgia Avenue.  The Honda then struck a 2018 Dodge Challenger that was traveling north on Georgia Avenue.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His identity will be released once family is notified.  The front-seat passenger of the Infinity, a 25-year-old female, was transported a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The drivers of the three other vehicles involved in the collision were not injured.  The driver of the Dodge Challenger is identified as Noe Daniel Suriel, age 26, of Weller Road in Silver Spring.  The driver of the Ford Explorer is identified as Regino Andres Gonzalez Pena, age 36, of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg.  The driver of the Infinity Q50S is identified as Camilo Jose Ahumada Serje, age 25, of Fishermans Court in Olney.
