Suspect Now Wanted for Two Bank Robberies in Rockville; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the– Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the October 9 robbery of an Old Line Bank in Rockville and are now investigating the October 15 robbery of a Congressional Bank in Rockville.  Both bank robberies are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.  Today, detectives are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect from the October 9 robbery and a surveillance photograph from the October 15 robbery.  Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying this suspect.

The following bank robberies were reported to MCP:

At approximately 10:04 a.m. on October 9, the suspect entered the Old Line Bank located at 1801 Rockville Pike and passed a note announcing the robbery.  The suspect demanded cash and implied that he was armed with a weapon.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled from the bank.   Further investigation by detectives determined that after this bank robbery, the suspect fled from the bank by riding a bicycle northbound on the southbound sidewalk of Rockville Pike.   The investigation further determined that the suspect stopped in a nearby parking lot, removed the outer sweatshirt and pants that he was wearing during this robbery, and left that clothing in the parking lot.  The suspect then continued with the bicycle northbound on Rockville Pike.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on October 15, the suspect entered the Congressional Bank located at 1700 Rockville Pike passed a note announcing the robbery.  The suspect demanded cash and implied that he was armed with a weapon.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled from the bank.  The suspect was last seen on foot southbound on Rockville Pike.

Anyone with information about the suspect or these bank robberies is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
