Detectives Investigating Sexual Assault in Gaithersburg Area

Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) continue to investigate the November 9 sexual assault of an adult female that occurred in the Gaithersburg area.

On Saturday, November 9, at approximately 6:32 p.m., 6th District officers and Gaithersburg Police Department officers responded to a paved footpath on Longdraft Road near Clopper Lake for the report of a sexual assault that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that the victim was on the footpath when the suspect pulled her into the woodline and sexually assaulted her.  A witness who was on the path heard the victim scream and came to her aid.  The suspect then fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male who is approximately 30 years old.  He is approximately 6-feet tall and was wearing a black baseball cap, black sweatpants, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, and white shoes.   The suspect also had a large scar on his face going from his upper cheekbone to his mouth.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
