For Immediate Release: Wednesday, November 20, 2019

Detectives from the 2nd District – Special Assignment Team (SAT) have arrested four juveniles for crimes to include the theft of three vehicles, the theft of two license plates, and credit card fraud.

Juveniles arrested:

  •           13-year-old male from Silver Spring
  •           13-year-old male from Silver Spring
  •           13-year-old male from Silver Spring
  •           14-year-old male from Silver Spring
On Thursday, November 14, at approximately 6:00 p.m., 2nd District SAT officers responded to the area of Montrose Road and Rockville Pike in Rockville for the theft of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that had just occurred.   The investigation determined that the keys had been left in the truck.  The stolen truck was located by officers at approximately 6:15 p.m. and was stopped at the intersection of Pershing Drive and Dale Drive in Silver Spring.  The 13-year-old driver and the 14-year-old passenger were placed under arrest.   Both juveniles were charged with auto theft and theft over $1,500.  The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents.

Through investigation, detectives developed two additional 13-year-old male suspects involved in the theft of the Ford F-150.  During the investigation, the third suspect was observed exiting the driver’s seat of a Hyundai Sonata and entering a Nissan Versa, being driven by the fourth suspect.   Both vehicles were determined to have been stolen from the Silver Spring/Takoma Park area.  The Sonata was displaying license plates that had been stolen from a vehicle in Olney and the Versa was displaying license plates that had been stolen from a vehicle in Silver Spring.  The two suspects were arrested on Seminole Street in Silver Spring in the stolen Versa.

It was determined that the two additional suspects had also committed theft from unlocked vehicles and credit card theft and fraud.   The two juveniles were transported to the Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center in Rockville where they were charged with vehicle theft, theft, and credit card fraud.

Detectives are investigating whether these four juveniles are involved in any additional thefts.
