Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision Involving Pedestrian in Wheaton

For Immediate Release: Monday, January 6, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred this evening in Wheaton.




On Monday, January 6, 2020, at approximately 6:26 p.m., officers from the 4th District and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Aspen Hill Road for a personal injury collision.




The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by Beverly Bowler Babcock, age 74, of Silver Spring, was traveling north on Georgia Avenue when the vehicle struck Jose Renan Guillen, age 75, of Olney, who was attempting to cross Georgia Avenue.




Jose Renan Guillen was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Beverly Bowler Babcock was not injured.




Detectives continue to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding this collision.  Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has additional information is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
