For Immediate Release: Tuesday, January 21, 2020
The Montgomery County Department of Police - 2nd District is announcing the arrest of a Peeping Tom suspect in Silver Spring.
Mario Verhage, age 43, of the 8500 blocks of 16th Street in Silver Spring, was taken into custody on the strength of an arrest warrant on January 15, 2020, charging him with several counts of CR-3-901(c) Peeping Tom in violation of Maryland law.
The investigation leading to the arrest warrant being issued revealed that on several dates in November 2019, Verhage targeted a female resident living in the 8500 blocks of 16th Street by looking into her window while she was in various stages of undress. Verhage would also set up his cell phone on the window to record the victim while she was within the residence.
Officers from the 2nd District, working with the community, were able to identify Verhage as the perpetrator and successfully apply for an arrest warrant that was subsequently served on January 15, 2020. Verhage posted bond and was released the same day.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident or prior incidents involving Verhage is encouraged to contact the 2nd District Station at 240-773-6700.
