Detectives Investigate Sexual Assault in Gaithersburg

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, January 21, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - Special Victims Investigations Division are investigating a sexual assault that occurred yesterday in Gaithersburg.

On January 20, 2020, between 6:00 am and 7:00 am, an adult female victim was walking on the footpath in the area of Mountain Laurel Lane and Flower Hill Way when she was approached from behind and touched inappropriately by a suspect.

The victim described the suspect as a Black male, unknown age, standing around 5'07", weighing approximately 175 pounds, with a medium build.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.  Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, have information on the suspect, or observed anything suspicious in the area are asked to contact detectives at the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050.  If anyone observes suspicious behavior in the area, detectives ask that you report it to police by calling 9-1-1 in an emergency, or 301-279-8000 in a non-emergency.
