Update: Serious Collision in Layhill Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a now fatal collision that occurred on March 1.

On Sunday, March 1 at approximately 1:11 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Norbeck Road and Layhill Road for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that a black 2016 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound on Layhill Road approaching Norbeck Road and a white 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Norbeck Road approaching Layhill road.  For reasons still under investigation, the Nissans collided in the intersection.

The driver of the 2015 Nissan Altima, Waqas Tahir Khan, age 37, of Fairmont Court in Woodbridge, Virginia, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Khan succumbed to his injuries yesterday (Monday, March 2) at the hospital.  An adult female passenger in the 2015 Altima was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the 2016 Nissan Altima, 30-year-old Aaron Pugh of an unconfirmed address, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
