Update: Detectives Arrest Suspect For Hate-Based Vandalism to Synagogue in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 1st District Investigative Section have arrested Andrew Lemond Costas, age 28, of Russett Road in Rockville, for vandalizing the Tikvat Israel Congregation in Rockville on March 28.

During this investigation, the Police Department released surveillance video of the suspect to the public and asked for help in identifying him.  Investigators received multiple tips identifying the suspect as Costas.  A warrant was issued for Costas' arrest.

Yesterday evening at approximately 5:30 p.m., Costas was arrested by detectives and transported to the Central Processing Unit.  He was charged with malicious destruction of property, defacing religious property, and damaging property of a group because of the group's religious beliefs.  Costas was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
