April Collision on Layhill Road Now Fatal

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a now fatal collision that occurred on April 13.  One of the drivers involved in the collision has succumbed to his injures.

On Monday, April 13, at approximately 12:01 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Layhill Road and Baughman Drive for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2010 Ford Escape, driven by 88-year-old David Joseph Remondini of Campfire Court in Silver Spring, was traveling north on Layhill Road.  A 2009 GMC Yukon XL, driven by Luis Amadeo Reyes Reyes, 31, of Ellicot City, Maryland, was also traveling north on Layhill Road.  The Yukon struck the Escape from the rear in the area of Baughman Drive.  Both vehicles crossed over to the southbound lanes of Layhill Road and came to a stop after colliding with a utility pole.

David Joseph Remondini was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries on May 7.  Luis Amadeo Reyes Reyes was not injured in the collision.
