For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 13, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the May 11 homicide of a 23-year-old female that occurred on Balmoral Drive in the White Oak.  The homicide victim has been identified as Linh Ngoc Thai Pham.  Pham had been temporarily staying in Florida prior to visiting the house on Balmoral Drive.   Investigators continue to work to determine her home address.

On Monday, May 11, at approximately 3:22 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 900 block of Balmoral Drive reporting a possible stabbing at a neighboring home.  3rd District officers who arrived at the scene located Pham, another adult female victim, and an adult male victim inside a home on Balmoral Drive.  Pham and the additional female victim were suffering from injuries related to a stabbing.  The male victim was suffering from assault-related injuries.  Biet Van Tran, age 63, of the 900 block of Balmoral Drive was located at the scene and immediately arrested.

Pham was declared deceased at the scene.  The second female victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  The male victim was treated by Fire and Rescue personnel at the scene for his injuries.

The preliminary investigation determined that Pham and the two additional victims are Florida and had been staying at that residence on Balmoral Drive for the past few days.
