Suspect Charged with Second-Degree Rape; Possibility of Additional Victims a Concern

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 4, 2020

Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have arrested and charged Orlando Constantino Coffield, age 38, of Postgate Terrace in Aspen Hill, with the second-degree rape and second-degree assault of an adult female that occurred at his apartment on May 25.

On May 26, the victim reported to Montgomery County police officers that a man she knew as Orlando, who lived in the same apartment complex as she did and who she was acquainted with, sexually assaulted her the previous day.  SVID detectives began an investigation.

Detectives determined that on May 25, Coffield invited the victim to his apartment.  The victim went to his residence and during that time, Coffield sexually assaulted the victim.  During the assault, the victim sustained bruises to parts of her body to include her legs and arms.

A warrant was issued for Coffield's arrest and he was arrested on June 2 in Ocean City by Montgomery County police officers.  Coffield was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he is being held without bond.

Investigators are concerned that there may be additional victims of Coffield.  Anyone who believes that he/she was a victim or has any information about a victim is urged to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050.
