Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Laytonsville Area

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred yesterday evening in the Laytonsville area.

On Thursday, June 11, at approximately 6:53 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Woodfield Road near Deanna Drive for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred.

Preliminary investigation by CRU detectives determined that a 2009 Nissan Versa was traveling north on Woodfield Road near Deanna Drive and a 2018 Audi Q7 was traveling south on Woodfield Road near Deanna Drive.  For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan crossed the double yellow line on Woodfield Road and was struck by the Audi.

The driver of the Nissan, 29-year-old Edvin Agripin Sanchez-Martinez of Kingstead Road in Clarksburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Audi, Christopher Thomas Yorro, age 47, of Viridian Terrace in Monrovia was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
