Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision in Damascus Area

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred this morning in the Damascus area.

On Tuesday, August 25, at approximately 8:16 a.m., 5th District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Damascus Road at Annapolis Rock Road for the report of a serious collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south on Damascus Road approaching Annapolis Rock Road when for reasons still under investigation, the Tahoe left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the Tahoe is identified as 48-year-old Andrew Robert Walter of Locust Drive in Damascus.  Walter was pronounced deceased at the scene.
