Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian-Involved Collision in Silver Spring

9/8/2020: The pedestrian is being identified as 23-year-old Santos Anibal Yool Gonzales of the 600 block of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring.

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved collision that occurred last night in Silver Spring.

On Saturday, September 5, at approximately 10:37 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to University Boulevard East and Langley Drive for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross University Boulevard East in the area of Langley Drive when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a 2013 Ford Focus that was travelling west on University Boulevard East.

The driver of the Focus is identified as 34-year-old Mario Majano of Kemp Mill Road in Silver Spring.  Majano was not injured in the collision.

The adult male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  He will be identified after his family is notified.
