For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 8, 2020

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division have been investigating the deaths of 70-year-old Donna Lewis and 71-year-old Arnold Ringgold, who were discovered deceased on September 3 inside their Silver Spring area home.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office (OCME) has ruled Lewis’ manner of death as homicide by gunshot wound.  The OCME ruled Ringgold’s manner of death as suicide by gunshot wound.

On Thursday, September 3, at approximately 9:13 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to a residence in the 9200 block of Three Oaks Drive after a family member had responded to the home to check on the residents.  The family member entered the home and located Lewis and Ringgold deceased inside.  The family member then immediately called 9-1-1.  During the investigation, detectives learned that Lewis and Ringgold were divorced, and Ringgold had recently moved back into the home.
