Detectives Investigate Fatal Hit and Run Collision Involving Pedestrian in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run collision that occurred early this morning in Silver Spring.   

On Sunday, September 20, at approximately 12:49 a.m., officers from the 3rd District, Takoma Park Police Department officers, and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue for a pedestrian-involved collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle, possibly a light-colored sedan, was traveling north on Carroll Avenue.  In the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue, the vehicle struck Wilmar Gomez Gonzalez, age 24, of Hyattsville, who was standing in the roadway.  After striking Gonzalez, the vehicle left the area.  The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
