Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in White Oak Area

Update: 10/19/2020 - The driver of the Toyota Corolla has been identified as Woyneshet Armide Ayele, age 72, of Beacon Road in Silver Spring.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early this morning in the White Oak area.

On Sunday, October 18, at approximately 1:09 a.m., 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Columbia Pike and Industrial Parkway for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by CRU detectives determined that a 2010 Toyota Corolla was making a left turn onto southbound Columbia Pike from Industrial Parkway when it collided with a 2018 Honda Accord that was traveling north on Columbia Pike.

The driver (and sole occupant) of the Toyota Corolla, an adult female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Her identity will be released once family is notified.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Marvin De Jesus Salinas Rodas, age 31, of Lockwood Drive in Silver Spring, and his passenger, Martin Gutierrez Cruz, age 21, of Mount Rainier, Maryland, were transported to local hospitals with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
