Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision Involving Pedestrian in Germantown

***Update (November 2, 2020): The pedestrian is identified as Kenneth Charles Zirkle, age 61, of an unknown address.  Detectives have been unable to locate any of Zirkle's family members and are asking anyone with information on possible family members of Zirkle to please call detectives at: 240-773-6620.

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred yesterday afternoon in Germantown.

On Friday, October 30, at approximately 2:35 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Germantown Road at Middlebrook Road for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross Germantown Road onto westbound Middlebrook Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian was struck by a 2012 Toyota Camry that was traveling south on Germantown Road and was driven by Vera M Dydson-Dzissah, age 43, of Germantown.

The adult male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  He will be identified after his family is notified.***

Dydson-Dzissah was not injured in the collision.
