Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision on Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred on Monday night in Gaithersburg.

On Monday, November 16, at approximately 6:33 pm, 1st District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Darnestown Road (MD 28) and Tschiffely Square Road for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that a 2008 Audi Q7 was traveling east on Darnestown Road when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed over the center median and continued travelling east in the westbound lanes of traffic.  The vehicle crossed back over the center median and struck a tree in the eastbound lanes of Darnestown Road just prior to Tschiffely Square Road.  The driver (and sole occupant of the vehicle) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver is identified as 35-year-old Jonathan Davis of Washington, D.C.
