Department of Transportation to Host Virtual Public Forum on the Proposed Addition of Bus Route 27 in Silver Spring on Thursday, June 2

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public forum On Thursday, June 2, starting at 6:30 p.m., to discuss a new bus route that will provide service between Hillandale Transit Center/Tech Road Park and Ride lot and US 29, with a stop at the Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center. The proposed route will have stops along Powder Mill Road, Cherry Hill Road, Plum Orchard Drive, Broadbirch Drive, Tech Road, and the Tech Road Park and Ride lot and provide connections with Metrobus, Ride On, and Flash bus routes.

Attendees will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions as the County works to grow transportation access and initiate community-wide feedback on the proposed route.

Individuals and representatives of organizations who would like to speak at the public forum can email their request to mcdot.rideonpublicforums@montgomerycountymd.gov, on or before May 30, with the following:

  • Name
  • Home Address
  • Telephone Number
  • E-mail Address; and
  • Organization (if affiliated to one)

Individuals who have signed up to speak must provide a copy of their testimony by email, for the record by Sunday, June 1.  Testimony may also be written, faxed, or e-mailed on the proposed service changes and carry the same weight as spoken testimony.

Comments in writing will be accepted and considered within 10 days following the event, by 5 p.m. on June 12.

Sign language and interpreter services will be provided upon request. Requests must be received no later than 5 business days before the date of the forum. Large print format will be available upon request. All comments are welcomed and will be considered before any changes are finalized. To make a request or follow up with testimony, participants can call (240) 777-5800.
