Montgomery County Police to Increase Traffic Enforcement for St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Gaithersburg, Maryland – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Alcohol initiatives Unit, along with allied agencies, will be increasing traffic enforcement and devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend, which is celebrated from Friday, March 15 to Sunday, March 17, 2024.

 

With grants from the Maryland Highway Safety Office, more officers in the metro area will be patrolling our roadways, apprehending impaired drivers and reducing alcohol and drug related collisions during the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend.

 

Montgomery County Police is reminding residents to drive sober or choose a sober designated driver if they plan to drink alcoholic beverages during the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend. This initiative aims to ensure that everyone arrives home safely and helps prevent any potential tragedies.

 

This is a combined traffic enforcement initiative that consists of officers from Montgomery County Police as well as officers from Maryland State Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland-National Capital Park Police and all municipal police departments.
