Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich’s Statement on Veterans Day 2019

For Immediate Release: Monday 11 November

“Today marks the 65th anniversary of the United States calling our celebration of U.S. military veterans 'Veterans Day.' It is our opportunity to recognize that each and every day, the brave men and women of our armed forces are there protecting our lives and liberty.  Montgomery County is home to approximately 42,000 veterans who are our neighbors, co-workers, family members and friends.  As you go through your day, I urge you to take a few minutes and simply say, ‘Thank you for your service,’ to a veteran that you know or encounter. It is the least we can do to show them how much we appreciate their service. We also can’t forget about their families, who have also made incredible sacrifices so their loved ones could serve our country. They too deserve our support and appreciation. So, on behalf of the people of Montgomery County, I extend my sincere appreciation on this day—and every day—to our veterans and their families. You took an oath to protect our lives and liberty, and for that, we are grateful. Thank you all for your service. Happy Veterans Day.”
