For Immediate Release: Thursday 1 May

Montgomery County mourns the death of Ida Pearl Green, a beloved community matriarch and one of our African American Living Legends, honored with that title in 2022. Mrs. Green lived an extraordinary 106 years, during which she dedicated herself to her family, her faith and the betterment of our county.

Though a mother to four children, Mrs. Green served as a guiding figure and source of strength for countless others. She embodied the true spirit of servant leadership—whether through her success in business, her involvement in civic organizations, or her tireless contributions to her church.

Despite facing hardship early in life, Mrs. Green remained steadfast in her faith and hope. She was a constant presence in her neighborhood, caring for children, working as an Avon representative, volunteering, and uplifting those around her through acts of kindness and compassion.

Her life was a testament to resilience, generosity, and grace. Ida Pearl Green leaves behind a legacy of love, purpose, and community service that will continue to inspire generations to come. We are grateful for her unwavering commitment to others, and we honor the indelible impact she made on Montgomery County.
