ROCKVILLE, Md., June 25, 2021 — Chief Housing Programs Officer at the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) Walda Yon; Tenant Education and Service Coordinator at LEDC Julian Talero; and Supervisory Social Worker for the County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Patricia Santucci will be the featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con El Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council), airing today at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM).
The first part of the show will cover current local and state protections as well as legal assistance for County residents facing evictions. Montgomery County has a partnership with four different organizations that are assisting residents with eviction actions and rental support including CASA, the Housing Partnership Initiative, the Montgomery County Renters Alliance and the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC). The guests from LEDC, Walda Yon and Julian Talero, will talk about how LEDC educates residents on the eviction process and can provide legal assistance and mediation services.
Following this conversation, Patricia Santucci will talk about the County’s Rent Relief Program, which aids residents impacted economically by the COVID-19 pandemic. She will discuss the application process and the County's additional programs and resources in place to prevent and eradicate homelessness. Through the County’s Rent Relief Program, families are eligible for up to $12,000 in emergency rent relief for up to 15 months of lost rent. Those in need can apply at MC311.Com/RentRelief.
The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station. Lilian Mass is the show’s host.
Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
