COVID-19 Updates: Effective Friday, June 5, 2020, the Transfer Station will resume acceptance of yard waste and bulk waste from County residents and businesses. Only waste generated in the County can be brought to the facility. Visit DEP Programs and Services Updates for the latest information.
Search for another material
Residents may bring up to 5 gallons of motor oil, most other oils, hydraulic fluids, and kerosene at no charge to our Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station.
So that the oils and fluids may be recycled, do not mix them with any other fluids.
Some area gas and services stations accept used motor oil. Check with stations near you.
We accept used vehicle and small engine oil filters from your home at the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station at no charge.
For used oil filters from your business, contract directly with a used oil filter recycler.
Dispose of empty plastic motor oil bottles as trash.
Do not place your empty containers into your recycling bin.
We accept old gasoline as Household Hazardous Waste. This drop-off is also in the Transfer Station's Recycling Area.
