Discussion will include an update on public health, redistricting and the introduction of Bill 42-21 on the establishment of an Early Care and Education Coordinating Entity
Rockville, Md., Nov. 5, 2021—On Monday, Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m., Council President Tom Hucker and Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz will hold a media availability to discuss public health updates, upcoming action on Council legislation, including Bill 18-21, Police – Internal Affairs Procedures and Reporting Requirements sponsored by Council President Hucker, and the next steps in the County’s redistricting process.
Councilmember Craig Rice, Chair of the Education and Culture (E&C) Committee, and Councilmember Nancy Navarro, who is chair of the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee and serves on the E&C Committee, will join Council Vice-President Gabe Albornoz, Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee to discuss the introduction of Bill 42-21, Child Care - Early Care and Education Coordinating Entity. This legislation creates an independent Early Care and Education Entity focused on systemic coordination that will build back the sector amidst the many challenges following the pandemic, while advancing the priorities of access, equity and inclusion.
Montgomery County Health and Human Services Public Health Emergency Preparedness Manager Sean O’Donnell will join the media availability to provide a public health update.
The media availability will be held via Zoom and is for credentialed members of the media.
