The program will also include information about the MCPS Back-to-School Fair

The featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Monika Hammer, communications and outreach manager at Montgomery Recreation; and Edith Lozada, Spanish communications specialist and Spanish language public information officer at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). The show will air on Friday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM) and is streamed on Apple PodcastsSpotify and Amazon Music

This week’s edition of En Sintonía will feature Montgomery County Recreation’s fall programs and activities, along with details about the upcoming registration period, which begins Tuesday, Aug. 12. Residents are encouraged to register online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. In-person registration will also be available at the department's administrative office in Wheaton (2425 Reedie Dr., 10th floor), all indoor aquatic centers, and other recreation facilities during regular business hours.

The show will conclude with all the details about the annual MCPS Back-to-School Fair, a fun and informative event to help students and families prepare for a successful school year. The fair will take place on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westfield Wheaton Mall. Attendees can enjoy free school supplies, health screenings, educational resources, and the opportunity to connect with MCPS staff and community partners. The event will also feature music, entertainment, games, and giveaways. It’s a great way for families to access valuable support services and get ready for the year ahead.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.

Each week, the show features host Marcela Rodriguez, Council program manager and public information officer, and guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
