ROCKVILLE, Md., Nov. 3, 2025On Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m., Montgomery County Council President Kate Stewart will hold a briefing to discuss Council and County matters.

Stewart will highlight key points from the Council’s discussion about how federal changes have impacted Medicaid programs for residents. She will also outline County priorities for the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session, which begins on January 14. 

Additionally, Stewart will preview key findings from Office of Legislative Oversight (OLO) Report 25-10, Mental Health Crisis Responses in Montgomery County. This report examines protocols across call centers that respond to mental health crisis calls including action steps taken and responses during times of heavy demand. This OLO report will be reviewed jointly by the Health and Human Services and Public Safety Committees on Nov. 6.

Finally, Stewart, who chairs the Council’s Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee, will highlight the Council’s partnership with the County Executive and his team to maintain Montgomery County’s Triple-A bond rating for 53 consecutive years. Receiving a Triple-A bond rating signifies that Montgomery County is among the best in the nation for fiscal responsibility.

The Council president’s briefing is open to the public and will be held in the Potomac River Conference Room located on the sixth floor of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville (directions).
