Montgomery County Council to Host Town Hall Meeting for Clarksburg Area On Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Rocky Hill Middle School.

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, February 5, 2014

The Montgomery County Council, which throughout each year holds Town Hall Meetings throughout the County in its efforts to find out what issues most concern residents, will meet with residents of the County’s fastest-growing community when it hosts a Town Hall Meeting for Clarksburg starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The meeting will be held at Rocky Hill Middle School.

Rocky Hill Middle School is located at 22401 Brick Haven Way in Clarksburg, just off of Route 355. A pre-meeting reception will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting will be recorded by County Cable Montgomery (CCM—cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon) and rebroadcast at various times in the weeks following the meeting. Susan Kenedy, a producer for the County station, will moderate the meeting.

The nine-member Council is composed of President Craig Rice, who represents District 2 that includes Clarksburg; Vice President George Leventhal; and Councilmembers Phil Andrews, Roger Berliner, Cherri Branson, Marc Elrich, Nancy Floreen, Nancy Navarro and Hans Riemer.

Residents will be encouraged to ask questions on any issue. Among the issues that are expected to be discussed are the continued development of Clarksburg, efforts to protect the Ten Mile Creek area, schools, transportation needs, public safety including the location of a new fire station and the upcoming process to formulate the County’s Fiscal Year 2015 operating budget.

“We are constantly seeking new and better ways to find out what most concerns County residents,” said Council President Rice. “We are always looking at how new technology can help residents contact us on the things that are important to them. However, there remain few better ways for elected officials to interact with residents than meeting with them directly at forums such as Town Hall Meetings. With so much going on in Clarksburg, we are all looking forward to this meeting.”
