Detectives Investigate Bank Robbery in Bethesda; Bank Offers Reward

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division - Robbery Section are investigating a bank robbery that occurred this afternoon in Bethesda.

Today, at approximately 12:38 p.m., officers from the 2nd District responded to the PNC Bank located at 10211 Old Georgetown Road for a report of a bank robbery that had just occurred.  Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached the teller, and produced a note demanding money.  The teller provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of cash, and the suspect then fled from the bank.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6? to 5"10" tall, and weighing 160 to 190 pounds.  He was wearing a red shirt, black pants, and a black or gray hat.

Detectives are releasing a surveillance photo of the suspect involved in this bank robbery and asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.  Detectives believe that this suspect may also be responsible for bank robberies that occurred on May 22 in White Oak and on July 24 in Germantown.  Surveillance videos of the suspect involved in the White Oak and Germantown robberies were released on August 8 and 9.
