Update: Identity Released in Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate the June 2 fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Rockville.

Today, investigators are identifying the pedestrian as Silvano Lemus, age 43, of an unconfirmed address.

On Saturday, June 2, at approximately 9:51 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City police officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to 502 Hungerford Drive for a collision that involved a pedestrian.  First responders located Lemus and he was transported to Suburban Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Lemus was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Hungerford Drive, when for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a Lexus 350 driven by Shihping Shih, 66 years old, of Autumn Wind Way in Rockville.  Shih remained on the scene.  Neither he nor his adult female passenger were injured.
