Update: Identity Released in Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate the fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred last night in Silver Spring.

Today, investigators are identifying the pedestrian as Channea Sreng, age 37, of the 11500 block of Taber Street in Silver Spring.

On Thursday, June 21, at approximately 11:19 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to New Hampshire Avenue at Oakview Drive for a personal injury collision.  Preliminary investigation revealed that Sreng was crossing northbound New Hampshire Avenue at Oakview Drive when she was struck by a white, 2005 Ford Mustang operated by Hafiz Ajaga Usongo Mbang, 22 years old, of White Oak.  Sreng succumbed to her injuries at the scene.  Mbang remained on the scene.
