Update: Suspect Arrested for Rockville Rape

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police -Special Victims Investigations Division have arrested Malachi Peter Raymond, age 21, of Autumn Wind Way in Rockville, with the second-degree rape of a 17-year-old female.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 1st District officers, Rockville City police officers, and officers from the Metro Transit Police Department responded to the area of the Twinbrook Metro Station located at 1600 Chapman Avenue in Rockville for the report of a rape.

Investigation by detectives revealed that the victim and Raymond began conversing on a Metrobus. When the bus stopped at the Twinbrook Metro Station, the victim and Raymond walked to a nearby parking garage located at 5701 Fishers Lane and went to a sixth floor stairwell. Raymond attempted to kiss the victim; the victim refused Raymond's advances.  Raymond then raped the victim.  After the sexual assault, Raymond walked the victim back to the Metro Station.  The victim then called police.

The victim was able to provide a description of Raymond to officers.  Detectives were able to locate video surveillance of the suspect (now identified as Raymond ) while he was on the bus and while he was at the Twinbrook Metro Station.

Through investigation, Raymond was developed as a suspect and he was arrested tonight at his residence on the strength of a Montgomery County warrant charging him with second-degree rape and one count of fourth-degree sexual offense.
