Pedestrian-Involved Collision in Germantown Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a now fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Germantown last night.

On Wednesday, December 19, at approximately 8:17 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to Middlebrook Road at Ridgecrest Drive for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was crossing eastbound Middlebrook Road at Ridgecrest Drive when she was struck by a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling east on Middlebrook Road.

The pedestrian, identified as Joyce Asare Brown, age 50, of Quail Woods Drive in Germantown, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Christian Alexander Martinez, age 20, of Emory Grove Road in Gaithersburg, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
