Update: Serious Pedestrian Collision in Rockville Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a now fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Saturday, March 23.  The pedestrian is identified as Jiayun Karen Liang, age 36, of Onondaga Avenue in San Francisco, California.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado assigned to the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, was traveling eastbound on Beall Avenue when, for reasons still under investigation, it struck an adult male and Liang.

Liang was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  On Thursday, March 28, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

All facts and circumstances regarding this incident are being investigated.  This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  If anyone witnessed the collision or has additional information regarding this incident, they are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
