Update: Suspect Charged in Two Rockville Bank Robberies

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division arrested and charged Asa Wilson Brown, age 34, of the 2300 block McAuliffe Drive in Rockville, for the two bank robberies that occurred this month in Rockville.

On October 9, the suspect entered the Old Line Bank located at 1801 Rockville Pike and passed a note announcing the robbery. The suspect implied that he was armed with a weapon and demanded cash. After obtaining undisclosed amount of currency, the suspect fled the area riding a bicycle.

On October 15, the suspect entered the Congressional Bank located at 1700 Rockville Pike passed a note announcing the robbery. The suspect again implied he was armed with a weapon as he demanded cash.

During the investigation, the detectives identified Asa Wilson Brown as the suspect and determined that he committed both robberies. On October 26th, Brown was arrested on the strength of a Montgomery County warrant with two counts of Armed Robbery and two counts of Theft. He is currently being held without bond.
