Update: Serious Pedestrian-Involved Collision in Gaithersburg Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a now fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, February 21.  The pedestrian, previously identified as Douglas Ariel Perez Martinez, succumbed to his injuries yesterday (Tuesday, February 25) at an area hospital.

On Friday, February 21, at approximately 9:19 p.m., 6th District officers, Gaithersburg Police Department officers, and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to South Frederick Avenue (MD – 355) at North Westland Drive for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives revealed that Martinez was attempting to cross South Frederick Avenue in an easterly direction when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300 that was traveling north on South Frederick Avenue.
