Update: Collision Involving Juvenile on Skateboard Now Fatal

For Immediate Release: Friday, December 11, 2020

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a now fatal collision involving a juvenile on a skateboard and a vehicle that occurred on Friday, November 27.

On Friday, November 27, at approximately 10:10 pm, 1st and 2nd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Montrose Road at Evelyn Drive for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that a 2012 Toyota Prius, driven by Najeem Amin Jan, age 47, of Dumfries, Virginia, was traveling west on Montrose Road.  Alberto Barreto, age 15, of Rockville, was riding a skateboard and was crossing Montrose Road.  The two collided in the area of Evelyn Drive.

Barreto was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  He succumbed to his injuries today.
