Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged Carisa Cline (formally charged as Christopher Cline), age 44, of the 900 block of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg, with three bank robberies that occurred in Gaithersburg between January 28 and February 8.
On Thursday, January 28, 6th District officers responded to the M&T Bank located at 5 Bank Street for the report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred. The investigation determined that the suspect approached a teller, announced the robbery, and demanded cash. The suspect did not obtain any currency from the bank and was last seen fleeing the area in a black Chevrolet Malibu.
On Friday, January 29, 6th District officers responded to the BB&T bank located at 467 N. Frederick Avenue for the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The investigation determined that the suspect approached a teller and passed a note demanding cash and implying that the suspect was armed. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency from the bank and fled.
During the investigation, detectives identified Cline as a possible suspect.
On February 8, at approximately 1:30 p.m., investigators observed Cline leave her residence in a black Chevrolet Malibu and drive to the Wells Fargo Bank located at 12161 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg. Detectives observed Cline enter the bank while wearing clothing similar to the clothing that the suspect wore in the two previous robberies. While in the bank, Cline approached a teller, announced the robbery, and implied that she was armed. Cline obtained an undisclosed amount of currency from the bank and fled in the Malibu.
Investigators followed Cline back to her apartment and attempted to arrest her. Cline fled from the officers on foot, but she was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Cline was transported to the Central Processing Unit where she was charged under her legal name of Christopher Cline with one count of armed robbery and two counts of robbery. Cline is being held without bond.
