Police Seek Public’s Help to Locate Teen Missing from Bethesda

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Update (03/31/2016, 11:00 a.m.): Srivarnika "Uma" Varanda has been located safe and unharmed. The Department thanks the public and media for sharing this missing person case.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Special Victims Investigations Division are asking the public for help to locate a missing teen girl.

Srivarnika Uma Varada, who goes by her middle name “Uma,” is 17 years old. She is from the 5100 block of Dudley Lane in Bethesda. She was last seen on Tuesday, March 22 at 12:00 pm. 

She is described as a biracial Asian/Indian female, 5’ tall, weighing 86 pounds, with brown eyes and long black hair. She was last seen wearing a gray fleece shirt, blue jeans, blue tennis shoes, and carrying a North Face backpack. Uma is familiar with public transportation.

Police and family members are concerned for Uma’s emotional and physical welfare due to her age.
